Coastal Parkway Across French Prairie
Land Use IssuesIn the past decade there have been at least two proposals to develop a four-lane limited-access parkway across French Prairie to provide faster access from I-5 to the coast. Apart from the traffic and pollution, and the loss of hundreds of acres for the road and its right-of-ways, the main problem is that it would cut the French Prairie ag community in half, physically dividing historic farms and dramatically complicating how local agriculture works. The entire French Prairie community has resolutely stood against this type of development.
