Notwithstanding years of delay, criticism of the master plan process by those impacted outside the airport and by private property owners within the airport, and intervention requests by Wilsonville and Aurora to the Governor’s office (which were repeatedly ignored!) the Dept. of Aviation (ODAV) and the Oregon Aviation Board (OAB) are marching to approval.

The final steps were setting a date for final submission of Comments, which was November 3. That is followed by a two-day OAB public meeting to be held in Salem, with the agenda items described as:

  • Presentation of Aurora State Airport Master Plan (including presentation of summary of public comments received as of Nov 3)
  • Public Comments (Nov. 2 PM and Nov. 3 AM)
  • Board Discussion and final decision on the Aurora State Airport Master Plan and issuance of State Agency Coordination Draft Findings (Nov. 3)

Substantive Comments addressing legal, land use and engineering short comings have been submitted, in addition to many individual public comments opposing the master plan or demanding that it not be approved and adopted as is.
